Easy access to freeway but not on freeway. Dawn to dusk only. Good lunchtime cache. No poison ivy. Parking ample and close.
The cache is located at the Rose Melnick Medical Museum, which opened its doors in 2001. Inside the museum, you'll experience the extraordinary and discover the fascinating - an iron lung, a German X-ray machine, a 19th century amputation kit and an 1850s electric shock device are just a few things on display. You will learn how to identify fraudulent medical devices and the quacks that peddle them. You will even witness the crudity of antiquated medical procedures such as bloodletting and trephination (ancient head surgery).You will also experience the evolution of medicine first hand by visiting full-scale re-creations of doctor's and dentist's offices and operating rooms of the past.
The Museum's mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of medicine as it relates to Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. Come discover the fascinating world of medicine.
The Museum is open by appointment only. Admission is free.
