This cemetery was founded in 1827...although records show the first burials took place in 1823. It is a peaceful area tucked in between nearby Station Road and PennState-Erie, Behrend College. It is a short walk from the Bayfront Highway Bike/Walk Path and parking. The area was restored around 1996 by the Harborcreek Historical Society volunteers. According to records...there are 183 unmarked graves and many are assumed to be mostly children and slaves or former slaves.
The cache is not located in the cemetery or near any markers. Please be respectful of the area. Night caching is not recommended.
There is also a nearby cairn (Waymark - WMCG91) located at N42.07.573 W079.59.158. It was constructed with broken markers from the cemetery and dedicated to those resting in Gospel Hill. Please check out the plaque by the cairn for more information.
Please enjoy the area...and feel free to send an email or log a DNF if you are having any troubles.
