Enchanted Ferncliff Multi-Cache
MSTzilla: I wanted to keep this one alive, but after six and a half years and a mention in "Hudson Valley Magazine", it's time to put it to rest. When I went out to check on it today, the first stage was still behind the construction barriers with no clear end to the project and stage two was entirely missing. So I've picked up the final and have brought an old friend home. Thanks to all who searched it out.

This is a three stage multi in the Ferncliff Forest in Rhinebeck, NY. There are other caches and a fire tower in this preserve and this multi may take you on some trails you may have otherwise missed. The preserve is open from dawn to dusk and has limited camping by permit only. The land was originally donated by the Astor family and was owned at one time by John Jacob Astor who was lost on the Titanic.
Hiking in from the parking, you should have an easy time deciding which trail to take. All of the stages are within 25 feet or less from the trails, so there is no real reason for bushwacking. In fact, trying to go straight to the next stages, could actually take longer than staying on the trails. The first two stages are small containers with a little twist. Inside you'll find the coordinates to the next find. Please be sure to hide the containers well and leave the piece with the coordinates for the next person. The final is a .30cal. ammo can that is well concealed. This container is totally out of sight and I want it to stay that way. Please retrieve only the ammo can when you find it. You'll understand when you find it. How will I find it you ask? Look for Cerberus guarding the cache. He's a mythical three-headed dog with a mean streak. Once you spot him, talk nice and rub his belly so he'll reveal the cache.
The Ferncliff Forest has a lot to explore and besides the other caches and fire tower. Please keep small children close while on the trails as there are some old foundations, root cellers, wells and cisterns along the way. Enjoy the day.
Contents of the cache are of an enchanted theme. First to find prize is an un-activated geocoin. Take it and do what you will. There is also a disposable camera in the cache. Please take a photo or two and leave it in the cache so I can develope it later for posting.
