Geocache Description:

Holly Ridge School -- Active from 1931 through 1977

Okay, these schoolhouses are made of brick, not rock, but all four of the schools in this series were built in the Depression era as part of the WPA program. All four schools were built on the same basic floor plan with just minor architectural variations. The only school still in use is the Archibald school, and it has not been used as a regular school since 1968. Since then, it has been used as a Special Education school, Alternative Education school, and as a Disaster Relief Center during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The cache includes:

  • school notepads
  • bookmarks
  • school pencils
  • alphabet erasers
  • Blue's Clues CD-ROM software
  • cartoon character toys
  • Home Design software on CD-ROM
