North of Spring Butte Lookout Tower
Spring has Sprung... The Lookouts have rizz... We keep track of where the fires is... Smokey's new message for the 21st Century... Only YOU can prevent Wildfires! About 80 feet NNE from the tower. Please obey the "no motor vehicles" sign on road 830. 2021 was my final year as a lookout at Spring Butte. Expect to meet a new lookout in 2022 if you come up. The two caches coming up from the road SE of the tower are in good shape.
UPDATE: July 2024 - Wyatt the current primary lookout is glad to have a visitor or two from 10AM to about 5PM. Just so you know, Smokey Bear's 80th birthday is August 9 2024. I took a birthday flag up for some pictures while the Darlene 3 fire was burning. They were posted on Facebook.
