Another in the MON (Middle of Nowhere) Series. This one is not quite as far off the beaten path, but you still get that country feel.
This cache celebrates the Ohio Bicenntenial Barn of Huron County. Before the Great 88 County Challenge for geocaching, GeeOJulie went on her own 88 County Challenge to see all of the Ohio Bicentennial Barns (GeeOEtzal & GeeOPeggy joined for many of the barns). It was quite a trip taking 3 summers to complete.
The Bicenntenial Barns were commissioned by the state of Ohio to celebrate our bicentennial in 2003. One barn was painted in each county. Nearly all are still standing, though at least one has been painted over. Some are starting to show some cracking and peeling, but the Huron County barn is still in really good shape. This barn was the 39th of the 88 to be painted. For more information on the Ohio Bicentennial Barns, check out this web site: www.OhioBarns.com.
Feel free to take pictures at the barn (and post here if you'd like), we're sure they don't get as many visitors as a few years ago, but they welcome picture taking.
The actual magnetic key holder cache is just up the road from the barn. Please pull completely off the road or use the small gravel parking area just beyond the cache. You cannot access this cache from Route 250.
