This cache is one of the WLR (West Lancashire Railway) series marking stations on the long gone WLR . Obviously we cannot give too much information away for this cache other than to say the terrain is reasonable, plenty of parking, and you won’t need to walk very far. THE CO-ORDINATES ARE NOT THOSE OF THE CACHE just an inaccessible spot on the line. You will need information from WLR 13,14,and 15 to find this one… Read on
Without giving too much away this last cache of our series is in a very pleasant spot, and when you have worked out the location you might consider making your visit into an interesting day out.
NOTE: This cache has been relocated, the original having gone missing… The container is now a small one capable of holding only small items such as key-rings, coins, etc.
Some of our earlier ‘puzzles’ it seems have tended to be a bit too easy, so this one will need some research (unless you’re a top notch railway buff). There is a clue however hidden in WLR 14’s information page!
Using the 7 letters you have now obtained, arrange them to form the name of an object that would have often been busy on the WLR. As an additional clue… when you have worked out the name you will also find the first 4 letters are also a name!
Now apply the usual calculations using the numeric values of the letters…
AA = First letter + Second. B = Half the Fourth Letter. C = (Second + Third) minus the Fourth. D = Sixth Letter
ZZ = First letter + Second letter + Last letter. Y = Sixth Letter + Third letter. XX = Sixth Letter + Last Letter.
N53 AA.BCD W002 ZZ.YXX is the cache location.
Having worked the cache location out… by adding 0.055 to the latitude mins. And taking 0.059 from the longitude mins you will find a very convenient car park!
