Cardiff Rivers #2 Taff - The Millennium Stadium Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

opus100: We were asked to disable and remove this cache because it is located in the 'hotspot' of the Cardiff Olympic Games events. After some long and hard thinking we have decided to take this opportunity to archive this cache as we have a busy year ahead of us in which we do not have much time to maintain our caches. We had plans to place a few more caches in the series, but as we lack the time, it is over and out for now. The cache was removed this morning. Thanks to all those who visited the cache!

Geocache Description:

This cache is the second in a series of caches*) around Cardiff’s rivers Taff, Ely and Rhymney, and is a very short multicache in the centre of Cardiff. As we have always wanted to place a couple of wheelchair-friendly caches, the Millennium Stadium seemed just the perfect location for one.

Please note that this cache is NOT available 24/7, as the Riverwalk is closed during events (see picture) and opening times may differ throughout the year. Secondly, you will have to bring your own writing equipment.

The Millennium Stadium

Not far from Cardiff castle, this huge building is a significant landmark in Cardiff’s skyline. With its retractable roof and special stadium turf which can be removed, it is a truly multi-functional venue, which can be used for sports events and concerts.

The mosaic plaque which can be found on Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium Riverwalk represents cultural and historic emblems of countries associated with New South Wales and was laid to underline the co-operation on education between Wales and New South Wales ( Visit Link!)

Milleneum Stadium Caution

Opposite the Millennium Stadium you can find the Taff trail, which winds its way down along the river Taff ( Visit Link!), a track suitable for pedestrians and cyclists. For those who like to follow the Taff river, there are more caches along this trail, which we can heartily recommend!

The cache coordinates are for the mosaics close to the building and you will need to answer a couple of questions about them first. The England mosaic is number one and you will have to find the other mosaics by counting from there:

Number 19:
how many letters in colour of mammal at the top = A

Number 5:
how many letters in the name of the object which you usually eat for breakfast (top row) = B

Number 13:
how many icons in the left column and bottom row = C

Number 21:
how many letters in the name of this country = D

Number 18:
how many letters in the name of this fish = E

Number 2:
how many stars in the flag = F

Cache can be found at: N51 28.ABC W003 10.DEF

Extra check: A + B + C + D + E + F = 38

If you are interested in finding the final bonus cache, have a look at the picture on the first sheet of the log and guess which river is depicted on it. It might be handy to take a camera with you to photograph the information and do the research at home.

This cache is part of a series of caches around Cardiff's rivers, but as we are waiting for the completion of the Ely trail the series is still unfinished.
