Hike to the Coca-Cola sign 500m overlooking San Pedro Sula.

Cache is the first in San Pedro Sula! It is located on a nice hike along a safe paved road which leads to the Coca-Cola sign that can be seen looking west from almost anywhere in the city. It is really the only ‘safe’ place to hike in the city.

The trail begins at N 15 30.625 W 88 03.013. If your driving you may even be able to take you car to the top (ask the guard at the gate). Most taxis will know the location if you ask to go to the road that leads up to the Coca-Cola sign (taxi shouldn’t cost more than about 50 limperas).

The road leading up is paved and lined with expensive houses but it is very beautiful and clean. There are benches to take a break and garbage cans for trash. It is a unique chance to be safe and enjoy some nature in the city that doesn’t even have a park! There is a wide verity of trees (many bearing fruit), birds, butterflies, and other insects. If you want to get off the pavement and get a little closer to nature, there are a series of ‘short’ cuts that lead through the forest. I recommend them but they are quite a bit more challenging and even steeper then the paved road (which is a calf burner in itself).

To get to the Coca-Cola sign takes about 30 min to an hour depending on how hard you want to push it and how many short cuts you take (oh and how bloody hot it is!). You will go from 100m altitude at the gate to 500m at the sign. Once you arrive at the sign take some time to enjoy the view of the city and watch the soaring vultures. The road continues beyond the sign and although I have not been, I’m told you may see monkeys and other wildlife if you continue on.

To find the cache follow the road a little farther (away from muggers) to a bend in the road where the pavement becomes gravel. On your left hand side there is a small clearing and a short trail. About 15 meters from the road you should find the cache.

The cache is in a black oversized peanut butter jar type container. When placed (June 7, 2006) it contained, key chain pocket knife (I thought this would be a good first to find), some games, crayons, candles, tea, tape, and other small items.

¡Reserva es el primer en San Pedro Sula! Es situado en una excursión a pie agradable por un camino pavimentado seguro que lleva al signo de Coca Cola que puede ser visto mirando al oeste de casi dondequiera en la ciudad. Es realmente el único lugar "seguro" de ir de excursión en la ciudad.

Hay una verdad ancha de árboles (muchos dando resultado), los pájaros, las mariposas, y otros insectos. Si usted quiere bajarse del pavimento y conseguir un poco más cerca a la naturaleza, hay una serie de los cortes "cortos" que dirigen por el bosque. Yo los recomiendo pero ellos bastante más desafían e incluso más escarpado entonces el camino pavimentado (que es un quemador de becerro en mismo).

Para llegar al signo de Coca Cola toma acerca de 30 min a una hora según cómo duramente usted quiera empujarlo y cuántos cortes cortos que usted toma (ah y cómo mancha de sangre caliente es!). Usted irá de la altitud 100m en la puerta a 500m en el signo. Una vez que usted llega en el signo toma algún tiempo para disfrutar de la vista de la ciudad y mirar los buitres que se elevan. El camino continúa más allá del signo y aunque yo no haya sido, soy dicho usted puede ver monos y otra fauna si usted continúa.

Para encontrar que la reserva sigue el camino un poco más lejano (lejos de atacadores) a una curva en el camino donde el pavimento llega a ser grava. En su izquierda hay un pequeño vaciar y un rastro corto. Acerca de 15 metros del camino usted debe encontrar la reserva.

La reserva está en una pasta de cacahuete demasiado grande negra contenedor de tipo frasco. Cuándo colocado (el 7 de junio de 2006) contuvo, cuchillo de bolsillo de llavero (pensé que esto sería un bueno primer encontrar), algunos juegos, los carboncillos, las velas, el té, graba, y otros pequeños artículos.
