Geocache Description:

#2 in the Fun With Signs series. An outstanding view above Potholes Reservoir above Hwy 262 (O'Sullivan Dam Rd.) and not far from the intersection of Rd. H (SE) and Rd. 9 (SE). In August '08 a wildfire swept through the area totally incinerating the original cache. A new one is now in place with updated questions and coordinates.

NOTE!! EVEN THOUGH THE SIGN DESCRIBED BELOW IS KNOCKED DOWN CACHERS CAN STILL FIND THIS CACHE BY LOOKING AT THE PHOTO OF THE SIGN ON MY LAST POST -- DATED 7/20/22. GOOD LUCK. I CHECKED THE FINAL, CACHE IS STILL THERE AND IN GOOD CONDITION.

The coordinates listed above will bring you to an intersection where there is a sign that looks somewhat like the cache title. Park safely on the side of the road and use the sign to answer questions and derive numbers that will lead you to the final destination less than 1.5 miles away.

FINAL DESTINATION COORDINATES: 046 Degrees 57.ABC minutes 119 Degrees 18.DEF minutes.

Substitute the numerical answers to the following questions for the corresponding letters in the above final destination coordinates.

A) How many letter "O"s are there in the words on the sign?

B) How many of the words on the sign are abbreviated?

C) # of letters in the longer of the two words that start with P.

D) # of vowels on the sign minus 2

E) the first _____ letters of the third word spell a word that is commonly used in golf. (By the way, there is a golf course down the road another mile or so.)

F) # of T's in the words on the sign minus 1 The final cache coordinates will bring you to a location that has one of the finest views of the reservoir and surrounding locale.

The cache isn't far from the nearby parking spot. After finding the cache enjoy the great view. Notice the many sand islands off to the NW. Look it all over and try to imagine the catastrophic ice age floods that surged in from the NE carving out the coulees, channels, potholes and scablands. In the evening near sunset is a great time to take it all in, you'll be impressed. Most cachers will approach the cache from O'Sullivan Dam Rd. (Hwy 262) below.

Coming up the hill you will pass within a few feet of the cache. I strongly recommend that cache seekers pass by the cache on the way up, and turn around at the intersection of Rd. H and Rd. 9 that is another 100 yards or so farther up the road and then come back down the hill to get the cache. Then PARK a little below the cache GOING DOWN THE HILL (next to the reflector) instead of swinging over across the left lane while going uphill. (It's safer this way.)

A good parking spot for two cars is on the outside of a road reflector that is located a few feet downhill from the cache. Please replace the cache as found. I suppose there could be a rattlesnake or two around, but we didn't see any. Hope you all enjoy this one ---- the view is grand, maybe see how many boats you can count out on the water. There are several camping areas on the highway below the cache.
