Explore SE: Run Teddy Run! Traditional Cache
l2w: Sorry for the delayed note/check on the cache - going to just archive (since it may be a while before I will be back in DC with enough extra time in my travels to check on the caches). I took a hiatus from caching due to some family and personal issues, and just getting back into the hobby. Sad to see this one appears to be gone, but it goes like that sometimes. Thanks for all who visited!! And so glad Teddy finally won one of his races!! :)

Micro cache, near the southeast corner of the new Nationals stadium. It is a log only, so please bring a pen (BYOP)!
First in a series of caches to get people to explore/discover the "new and improved" Southeast DC area. This is my first cache to hide.
This micro cache is near the southeast corner (First Base Gate) of the Nationals stadium that opened in 2008. Name reference is to the president big heads race that takes place at the Nats games...thus far, Teddy Roosevelt is pretty slow and typically loses. So, I just have to cheer for the underdog.
For now, area has relatively minimal traffic most of the time, except game days. On game days, the metropolitan police command center is typically in the vicinity, so it might be significantly more challenging to get this cache at that time. Nearby is the Diamond Teague Park which has been renovated and looks like it will open again soon (sadly they took out a great old hollow tree for cache hides).
While the area is accessible 24/7, I would not recommend going to this area alone late at night since the area is still a bit transitional. There is street parking within 100 feet.
**Update as of 23 January 2010 - Replaced the cache container with something completely different, and hid a bit differently than before. Not exactly sure how long it will last now with the new configuration since, to me, it seems a bit more obvious to spot as 'out of the ordinary', even though it's no longer hidden 'in plain sight'. Hope the container lasts a bit longer since I can't get up to maintain these as often as I'd like. Please return exactly as found (to include orientation of the container to keep log dry).
