A weird cache in a terrible location. No roads, but some animal trails. Use a mountain bike, but expect a gnarley ride off-trail. In the middle of "Splinterville", if you want to take some other caches on the way. The 10 year-old cache is updated as of 09/11/2011.
The old description read as follows: "The cache is a smallish flat tupperware-like container wrapped in a white plastic bag. The location is near Morrison Creek, but not so near that you won't need lots of water with you on a hot day. You can cruise by mountain bike or by hiking to within 100 feet easily. Then the fun begins! The container is not too big so smaller items would be good. There is a golf course near by, thus the name of the cache. Although you would really need to shank one to get it here. I saw a
huge coyote and several smaller ones when I planted the cache, and birds of prey abound. The site is rather desolate, but the general area is very nice. Have fun."
Since the cache was placed 10 years ago, it has had a few replacement containers provided by visitors. (I posted images of the container found.) The new container is a medium-sized water-resistant metal box. The placement is close to the unusual rock mentioned in the original description, but it used to be on (under) the ground. This was not wise, because of the flooding of the area that occurs in the wet-season (see logs). I am leaving the coordinates the same as they were because they are close enough for this type of cache hide.
It is not wise to approach GZ from Sunrise Blvd., as the "Driving Directions" feature suggests. If you do, you will be raising the difficulty level significantly! Read some of the older logs and see what the finders said about this approach.
