Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden at the above coordinates. Due to the new Groundspeak rule, we no longer require you to do more than sign the log, but knowing how people got their caching name is fun and many people watch this cache listing to find out other people's stories.

Located on our mom's property so permission is granted. This is the third and final one at this location. Be sure to check out the Quest of Camelot and the Camelot Days Inn if you have not already done so. Parking can be found at 44º 42.775 N 088º 26.698 W. This is a small plastic container, so if you have travel bugs, plan accordingly, they can go in the cache down the road. Please be careful of planted crops, mom's land is north and west of the cache location. The idea for this cache came from Gotta Run who once sent an email asking why we have the fascination with Camelot. This is our story: There once was a maid named Carrie who lived in a big city in Ontario, Canada, who after many unhappy years, divorced a man named Arthur (yes, really). Upon looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a mother of six in her late 40's who had spent several years confined to her bed with illness. She knew she had personality but figured no man would ever look beyond her less than stellar packaging to discover that. Here's the story, of a widower named Lance, who was living in rural Wisconsin who also had six kids. He worried he would be alone forever and didn't like that prospect. He wanted someone to share his life - one who would stand by him, make him laugh, and just love him for who he was. Now Carrie decided she would never find anyone unless she ventured out, so she signed onto a church dating website, hoping to meet a man of her faith. Admittedly, there were about 20 women for every man there, but her sparkle caught Lance's eye. Two weeks later he drove to Canada to meet her in person. The minute she walked into the room, he looked into her amazing eyes and thought, "Oh my gosh! She's gorgeous! If I don't marry this woman I'll regret it the rest of my life." And as she walked into his arms, she knew she had found her knight in shining armour at last. He was everything she'd ever dreamed of and more. Lance proposed the next morning and gave her the ring. Camelot was born. Shortly thereafter, they were married, and yes, at the end of their vows, they added, "And I promise to always keep the magic of Camelot in our marriage." Guinevere had used the name Lander online for the past 5 years so that is the name we used when we initially registered on Geocaching.com. We've considered changing it to Guinevere and Lancelot, but so many comfortably refer to us as L&L that we decided to leave it as is. People know that Lander is Guinevere, so it's all good. (However, our ten-year-old son occasionally shouts, "Your name is NOT Guinevere, and he is NOT Lancelot and this is NOT Camelot, and would you guys stop kissing!!") Guinevere went from an unhappy marriage to Arthur to the love of her life with Lancelot. The unshakable parallels to Camelot are obvious - and hence our theme. Lancelot truly is a noble knight who makes all Guinevere's dreams come true, and she is loyal and devoted to him. In short there's simply not A more congenial spot For happ'ly ever aftering Than here in Camelot. In days of olde, the king of England sent out the Officers of Arms to record all coats of arms and the pedigrees of the gentry. These tours were known as the Heraldic Visitations. It is time for Camelot to make record of the noble citizens therein and the origins of the names by which we know them. So please tell us how you got your caching name.
