Beautiful area to go swimming on hot summer days.
GPS bounces all over the place in this area it is almost impossible to get a perfectly accurate coordinate. See notes below for hints to help.
A good place to start: At the end of Airport Rd (in Payson) turn right then left on Graff Dr. At the end of Graff it turns into F.S. road, to your right there is plenty of parking for trucks and trailers.
Quads or hiking in recommended. The final road is skinny, steep, and rocky. The hike from the parking area is very steep and rocky. Take care that you don't "skin your knees".
As of 4/11/2011 this "skinny" road has been brushed and widened slightly. It may be possible to go in with a Jeep or other 4x4.
Cache container is a small/medium plastic container. Not too hard to find but MAY BE TRICKY GETTING TOO. BE CAREFUL.
Beautiful area to go swimming on hot summer days. This place is just incredible. There are awesome deep swimming holes here as well as an ancient surprise on the large flat rock that overlooks the Verde River.
Since the GPS readings bounce around in this area it is almost impossible to get a perfectly accurate coordinate. From the parking area, walk down far enough that you can clearly see the flat rock overhanging the river, the cache is somewhere on the top of the slope. Be sure to stop once in a while and wait for the GPS reading to stop bouncing around.
Happy hunting!
