Geocache Description:

A cache along the Montane Trail in Bow Valley Provincial Park.

The Montane Trail is an interpretive trail in Bow Valley Provincial Park. The trail is a nice easy walk with only gentle slopes along the way. The cache is a little way off the trail in the forest. It's sister cache (Montane Meadow - GC1D807) is also along this trail but in a meadow.

The Montane Trail is just off the Trans Canada Highway. Take Exit 114 onto Highway 1X north and then turn west to head to the Bow Valley Campground. You can also get to Highway 1X from Highway 1A if you want a more scenic drive from Calgary.

Park at the Bow Valley Visitor Center and Administration Office parking lot. There is parking for cars and RV's. The trail starts at the washrooms and you will arrive at a fork about 40 metres along the path. If you've not found Leah's Bench (GC104HV) by BVPete, go left at the fork and do the trail in a clockwise direction (which is backwards to the signs) so you can enjoy that cache at the same time.

Before driving out you can check out the Bow Valley Trail Report.

The cache is an ammo box with the usual log book, pencil, sharpener, and trading items. Remember, you're in the forest so it could take a while for your GPSr to settle down. We've provided a hint that should help you easily locate the cache if the trees prove too much trouble for your GPSr.

Happy Hunting!
