Geocache Description:


I was flying over this area a few months ago and noticed a big brown area next to the southern part of Ramapo Mountain State Forest . It looked like a barren waste land with a pit in the middle. Google earth shows this area but doesn't show the pit, so I had to go check it out. The site is on private property and has a gated and guarded entrance. There is also a 6 foot fence topped with barbed wire separating the property with the State Forest. “No trespassing” signs are posted along the fence. To top it all off there are Gabion Baskets (a rock wall made from chain link and rocks) surrounding the barren land and pit.

What are they up to here? It all looks rather sinister.

I just happened to have a cache container with me so I placed it near the “pit”. The cache is in the State Forest. There is no need to go on the other side of the fence and trespass. I've got a feeling g-men would swoop down on you if you even think about crossing the fence line. I wanted to use a decon container ( it seemed appropriate) but had to settled for a pint size lock and lock painted OD green with some medical swag. Please keep trade items medically oriented.

The closest parking is 41 00 .754 N 074 16.739 W then start out on the Cannonball.
