Este es un multicache, localizado en el pueblo de Maricao. El cache principal está AFUERA del Vivero de Peces de Maricao y está disponible 24/7. Si desea visitar las instalaciones del vivero el horario es de Jueves a Domingo de 8:30 am - 11:30 am y de 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm y es libre de costo. La primera parte del cache con las coordenadas finales está localizada en la "Gruta San Juan Bautista", es un cilíndro metálico tipo bison. El cache principal es una caja lock & lock con log book, bolígrafo, varias sorpresas y premio para el FTF.
El Vivero de Peces de Maricao fue construído en 1937 bajo la dirección del famoso biólogo Dr. Samuel F. Hildebrand, para estudiar peces de agua dulce e introducir diferentes especies de Tilapia a la Isla. A principios de los años 70, la administración del vivero pasa al recién creado Departamento de Recursos Naturales, bajo la División de Recursos Marinos. El Vivero de Peces de Maricao es la única facilidad del gobierno estatal dedicada al mantenimiento y diversidad de poblaciones de peces de agua dulce en todo Puerto Rico.
El vivero ha experimentado con el cultivo de Truchas, Chopas, Tilapias, Barbudos, Carpas, Tucunarés y Sardinas. Actualmente la especie que se reproduce prioritariamente es la Lobina (Micropterus salmoides), que es el pez más atractivo para los pescadores recreativos de agua dulce. Es el único vivero de peces de aguas cálidas que produce lobinas en el trópico. También puede encontrar en exhibición especies nativas como: Guabina, Dajao y Olivo.

This is a multicache, located at the town of Maricao. The main stage is located OUTSIDE of the Maricao Fish Hatchery and is available 24/7. If you want to visit the hatchery facilities it is open to public from Thursday to Sunday from 8:30 am - 11:30 am and 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm, without any fee. The first stage with the final coordinates is a bison container, located at the “Baptist Grotto”. The main cache is a lock & lock container with logbook, pencil, some goodies and FTF prize.
The Maricao Fish Hatchery was built in 1937 under the direction of the famous biologist Dr. Samuel F. Hildebrand, to study fresh water fishes and introduce different Tilapia species to the island. At the beginning of the 70s, the hatchery administration was taken by the recently created Department of Natural Resources, under the Marine Resources Division. The Maricao Fish Hatchery is the only facility of the state government dedicated to keep the diversity of fresh water fish populations in PR.
The hatchery has experimented with the reproduction of Trout, Chopa, Tilapia, Carpa, Tucunare and Sardines. Right now the number one specie for spawning is the large mouth-bass (Micropterus salmoides), because is highly appreciated by fresh water sport fishermen. This is the only hatchery from high temperatures waters that reproduces large mouth-bass in the tropics. You will also view exhibitions of native species as the Big mouth sleeper, Dajao and Olivo.
