This location is the spot where the “Old” and “New” McBean Church once stood. The original church was built in the mid 1700’s and was one of the oldest churches in the Baptist Union. The old church was made of logs and remained standing over a long period of time. The “New” church was erected in 1870 and remained in use until such time as the country area modernized, and the horseless carriages started helping people move away. Then, the church stood silent, deserted and forsaken, it’s doors swung to and fro. There was a deafening stillness and an occasional squawk of a crow. The church’s time had been and now was gone for ever more. The church was eventually torn down, sold and hauled away. But the church, in all it’s glory and good tidings, and the loved ones that abide in peace and rest, surely deserve to be remembered.
