This is one that our Geograndkids really enjoyed when we tried it out on them first. It is a little off the track, but not too far.
There are many legends and stories passed on and repeated to each other by bushwalkers and other people who regularly walk in the forest, especially stories about the dreaded Drop Bears who wait patiently in the trees and drop onto the last person in a group walking through the forest beneath them, and take them back to their treetop lairs as food.
Are these true stories? Nobody really knows, because those who actually encounter Drop Bears apparently never live to tell the story.
But recent research has shown that these close relatives of the harmless Koala actually nest, raise their young and feed in the trees across wide areas of Victoria.
This cache gives some indication of where they live, what they eat when bushwalkers are not available, and how they care for their young.
And remember where would you be most likely to find a Drop Bear in the forest. Keep your eyes up (and beware). Koalas are also occasionally seen in this forest as well.
Offerings to appease a hungry Drop Bear will always be appreciated in this cache.
