Geocache Description:




This cache is located at the Missouri Department of Conservation Moore's Mill Public Fishing Access off State Route JJ near Calwood. Container is an ammo can secured with a cable to prevent it from floating away in a flash flood. Please replace as found after you log your visit.

Both Moore's Mill caches are placed on the southwest side of the Auxvasse Creek. If you approach from the northeast side of the creek, you may not be able to access the cache due to high water. Consider yourself warned...driving through the gravel creek bed may be more adventure than you bargained for!

This area contains old fields and forest and offers access to the Auxvasse Creek. Hunting, fishing, primitive camping, trapping, dog training and boat launching are allowed in designated areas. The area is open for public use from 4:00am-10:00pm.

The Battle of Moore's Mill Waymark historical marker is located on State Route JJ a few miles from here. Link In July of 1862, a civil war battle was fought at Moore's Mill. This was the only engagement that took place in Callaway County between the Federals and Confederates. Many of the casualties are buried in a mass grave on the south side of the road about one mile west of Calwood.
