Geo-CAT-che 2 Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

SUp3rFM: Esta cache foi arquivada por falta de uma resposta atempada e/ou adequada. Relembro a secção das guidelines sobre a manutenção http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#maint :
As the cache owner, you are also responsible for physically checking your cache periodically, and especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to hunt for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable time – normally a few weeks – in which to arrange a visit to your cache. In the event that a cache is not being properly maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an extended period of time, we may archive the listing.

It may be difficult to fulfill your maintenance obligations if you place a cache while traveling on vacation or otherwise outside of your normal caching area. These caches may not be published unless you are able to demonstrate an acceptable maintenance plan. It is not uncommon for caches to go missing, areas to be cleared, trails to be blocked or closed, objects used for multi-cache or puzzles to be moved or removed, etc. Your maintenance plan must allow for a quick response to reported problems.

Geocache Description:

Geo-CAT-che

Short description

NOTE: The original cache was stolen, and I have now replaced it by a simple offset to avoid a return by the thieves.
This is a simple cache from an idea by Myriam, and is in memory of a friend, Rhona, who lived near Lagos, and loved cats, and of our own cat, Terça, who walked into our house one Tuesday about 10 years ago, adopted us and gave us a lot of love until she passed away last year. You may see some of her less lucky friends, and also some of Rhona's friends when you find this cache.

Long description

Unlike most of our other caches all you have to do is approach from the right side of the river. It is possible to drive close, but is more rewarding to park near the railway station and walk past the boatyard and marina. If you then go towards the sea, you will see the long curved sweep of Meia Praia, and may be inspired to take a walk part way along. The coordinates given are for the cats' houses.
To find the Cache:
Old Possum may be of help! The author won a Nobel Prize for Literature in ABCD. To find the offset cache, SUBTRACT (D-A) from the original northing and (B+D) from the original westing. Please be discreet and conceal the cache after finding it.

There is a plaque to Rhona on one of the cat shelters near this cache. If you stand near the cache, the inhabitants will gradually materialise from all around, and thanks to the efforts of the volunteers who care for them, they are in lovely sleek condition, and usually very approachable and friendly. Be very careful with young children, until you are confident that they understand that these are not fully domesticated animals, and although some are very happy to be petted there are one or two that may be easily frightened.

We hope you enjoy this simple offset cache. Please be aware of muggles who may approach from any direction.

Update December 2008: The Cat Hotel has been vandalised and broken up. The plaque is missing, but some local Portuguese Friends of the Cats have rebuilt a temporary house for the cats.
