Huge main line stations, surburban services, both electric and steam trains, barking of the steam services on the steep grade up to Churchtown station, beautiful views across salad fields to distant hills, well-kept village stations, the crossing of the River Douglas, and the huge viaduct across the teaming River Ribble - to name but a few.
The cache
Positioned along this grassed-over part of the line, in a residential area mid-way between the former Churchtown and Crossens stations. And even though a short walk from the rear entrance of the Botanic Gardens it is in a quiet environ where few transcend. Please do not overload the container with items and ensure that the lid closes easily and correctly. Ta!
NOTE
o There is a large amount of tree cover making satellite coverage rather flaky, so the clue has been made somewhat easier for this cache
o There is plenty of parking available
o When finished with the cache all that the Botanic Gardens has to offer is at your disposal - boats, ice cream, zoo, museum, children's playground, numerous flowerbeds, enjoy!
o Please note with respect: I now automatically delete logs that have no substance or interest to myself or for future cachers.
For those who wish to see some railway memorabilia still in situ (two minutes walk): Enter the Botanic Gardens near the cache site and turn right. Walk until you have gone past the end of the car park which is over the hedge. Look right and you'll see a small brick railway arch still intact and bridging a stream.
