The cache container is just a bit smaller than a micro and cammoed. This location is a busy spot, so be on the lookout for muggles and please be descret. Hint very useful !! Please place the cache back in same location. Nearby parking will cost you, but there are some meters on Salter Street.

"Georges Island, a small drumlin located in the middle of Halifax harbour, was shaped by glaciers which swept Nova Scotia thousands of years ago. Its strategic location and glacial till made it ideally suited to becoming the heart of the seaward defences for Halifax's important naval base. For nearly two hundred years Georges Island was the scene of constant military activity. Tales of executions, forts and hidden tunnels surround the folklore associated with the mysterious island."

Secret passages eh? Conspiracy?!!

Georges Island to be open to public next year (2010)

If you look out over Halifax Harbour this August, you’ll likely see construction crews busy at work on Georges Island.

That’s because Parks Canada intends to open the national historic site to the public, and plans starting the necessary work Aug. 1, the agency said Tuesday in papers filed with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry.

The move comes after Parks Canada opened the island to an enthusiastic public on June 13 and 14.

It will be March 31, 2010, before the work on the island is completed, the development documents state.
