This series of five caches is dedicated to those among us who eschew gas guzzlers in favour of more environmentally friendly means of conveyance. An easy 16.2 km, although it will seem far shorter, family friendly tour of eastern Amherst Island. We’ve enjoyed the quiet pastoral setting of this peaceful island since our daughter first outgrew her training wheels. Arguably the most pleasant ride you will have anywhere. I will leave it to fellow cachers to refute or support my opinion in their own words and photos. All caches are easily found, black-taped juice bottles hidden within comfortable reach.
Stella is a small village. Amenities are few but not missed. Roads are predominantly hard-packed gravel and very ride-able. Traffic is so scant that the family can safely span the roadway. Take in the lazy drone of insects, the scent of wildflowers, the tastes of summer, the fresh breeze off the lake, the panoramic vistas. Spend an hour or two rejuvenating the soul. Early morning or evening is recommended but any time in daylight is great. Take your time and enjoy a veritable feast for all the senses.
