Geocache Description:

This cache is located on an island in the Roanoke Sound not far from the Harvey Soundside Access. Some type of boat will be required to get to it- kayak, jet ski, regular boat etc. You can rent a kayak nearby, if needed. It is located near a spot you can land your boat. Circle the island until you see a beach on the North side. You may want to bring some shoes as some very minor bush wacking is required. Please place the cache back exactly where you found it. If there has been a storm recently there is a strong chance it may not be there.

We suggest you stay 10 yards from the island until you come to the north end of the island as the water is very shallow on the east side. Or you may want to try paddling around the west or far side of the island as it is not quite so shallow here. Notice the unusual man made works on the south end of the island. Would love to hear what you think it is and how long it has been there.

We found this island when we were kayaking from Jockey's Ridge to the Harvey Soundside Access. We stopped to take a break on the island and our 5 year old son Jack found a big X in the sand and wanted to dig for treasure. Jack became fascinated with the idea of islands so we came back to hide some of our own treasure.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
