Wasaga Teepee Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Almost two years to the day that we have found our first cache are we finally placing one. Some of our family live up here so we figure it would be a nice place to put our first cache.
Parking can be found off of Oxbow Park Road by an orange/rusty gate. Taking the trail to the left of the gate will access the cache site and an interesting teepee.
Please feel free to explore the area as it is accessible to anyone. Heading straight up the sandy lane about 100 metres from the gate you will discover a Ghost Track – the Wasaga Beach Speedway, a 1/4 mile paved oval. The track opened in 1956 and closed about 1970 (dates are approximate). There was originally a half-mile horse track on the property. The paved track was built later, inside the old horse track. The old horse track is still there. The pits were outside of the track, off turn 3-4 and the drivers entered the track from turn 4. There were grandstands along the front straight but these are long gone. You can also access the cache by walking left on the track itself to a small trail.
Keep an eye out for wild turkeys! The teepee fell down years ago, but we are still keeping the name.
Cache is a screw top, please don't try to pop it off. Bring your own writing instrument.
Note:
NO LONGER MAINTAINING THIS CACHE. VISIT AT YOUR OWN RISK. This cache is up for adoption if anyone would like to take it on as theirs! PM for details. It's a fun oldie!
