Tortoreto Lido è una cittadina sul mar Adriatico in provincia di Teramo, è una località turistica molto frequentata d'estate. Il territorio di Tortoreto Lido è attraversato in tutta la sua lunghezza dalla pista ciclabile facente parte del Corridoio Verde Adriatico. La pista collega la località a nord con Alba Adriatica e a sud con Giulianova. E' stato inoltre istituito, sempre a Tortoreto Lido, un Museo della cultura marinara.
LA STATUA:
Riemerge dagli abissi e con tutta la sua bellezza si staglia di nuovo sulle acque di Tortoreto. Ma non su quelle marine, bensì su quelle che escono dalla fontana interna ad un rondeau. La sirena, che per anni era stato il simbolo del centro balneare vibratiano, è ritornata a rappresentare l’emblema della città. Dopo anni di oblio ed abbandono (la statua si trovava infatti all’interno dei depositi comunali da diverso tempo), la scultura in bronzo è stata recuperata e rappresenta il biglietto da visita della città. La storia della sirena è una storia costellata da momenti di gloria ma anche da momenti di sfortuna. Inizialmente era stata inizialmente collocata a ridosso della piazzetta sul lungomare di Via Carducci. Negli anni successivi il luogo era diventato anche un ricettacolo di siringhe e di alcuni rettili, tanto che l’amministrazione decise di rimuoverla. Ma prima che ciò avvenisse passarono diversi anni e questo perchè l’operazione richiedeva molti soldi. Quasi quanti ne erano occorsi per realizzarla. Ora, dopo un quindicennio la Sirena torna agli antichi splendori.

Tortoreto Lido is a small town on the Adriatic Sea in the province of Teramo, is a very popular tourist destination in summer. The territory of Tortoreto Lido is crossed throughout its length by the bike path as part of Green Corridor Adriatic. The track linking the resort to the north and south Alba Adriatica with Giulianova. In addition, always in Tortoreto Lido, there is a museum of maritime culture.
THE STATUE:
From depths and with all its beauty , the Sirena statue stands out again on the water of Tortoreto. But not on marine water, but on those leaving the fountain inside a rondeau. The siren, which for years had been the symbol of vibratian seaside resort, has returned to represent the emblem of the city. After years of neglect and abandonment (the statue was in fact inside the municipal deposits for some time), the bronze sculpture was recovered and represents the business card of the city. The history of the siren is a history studded by moments of glory but also by moments of bad luck. Initially it was placed behind the square on the seafront of Via Carducci. In subsequent years the place had turned into a receptacle of syringes and some reptiles, so the administration decided to remove it. Now, fifteen years later, the Sirena is back to ancient splendours.
