Little Gribbin Traditional Cache
Gribbin: Visited today to take a look at the situation. The vegetation up here has changed a lot since the cache was placed . As the original path has become completely overgrown I decided to archive the cache and have removed the container.
Thanks to all who've visited over the years.

A cache on a handsome Cornish headland.
This cache is situated on clifftops between Fowey & St Austell, at a point called Little Gribbin. A little further south east is the unmissable shape of the Gribbin Daymark. This red and white tower was built by Trinity House in 1832 to help mariners correctly identify the headland. Ships coming from the east often mistook The Gribbin headland for St Anthony Head and the approaches to Falmouth. The tower is open on certain summer Sundays, if you wish to admire the impressive views from the top check dates with Fowey Tourist Info on 01726-833616. (2010- Open Sundays 11am-5pm, June 27th-Sept 12th., 50p fee for non NT members).
The fields inland were the original inspiration for Daphne Dumaurier`s short story "The Birds", this was later used as the basis of the famous Alfred Hitchcock film. The name of the area probably comes from the same roots as the Welsh "Crib/Cribyn", meaning a crest or summit.
You are looking for a 2.5 litre box, hidden a few metres off the coastpath. Parking is available at Menabilly Farm, there is a small charge payable down at the farm gate. The shortest route is to walk NORTH from the car park until you reach a gate at N50`19.809 W004`40.556. This is the start of a path heading west across the fields to join up with the cliffpath. After finding the cache you can either return the same way or continue on a circular route back to the car. This route follows the path to The Gribbin, down to Polridmouth Cove, then up a little track back to the farm.
NOTE- Keep children & dogs under close supervision as the clifftop path comes close to sheer vertical drops in some places!
There are thorn bushes & nettles close to the cache, shorts are not a good idea!
