Geocache Description:

The Honeymooners is a cache placed especially for newly wedded geocachers in an amazing place for your honeymoon! The cache is BEST visited on a late evening moonlight stroll as there will be hundreds of vacationing muggles enjoying the area during the day and early evening.

We were married in Kamloops, BC on June 7, 2008 and honeymooned a week later in the beautiful Riviera Maya. We were really suprised with the lack of easy accessible caches in the area of our resort, so we decided to start one. Thank you to those with virtuals close though!

We return to the resort where the cache is located yearly and as do two of our caching friends who have accepted to drop by the cache and check on it's progress for us.

When visiting our cache, "honeymooners" or otherwise, could be please emplore you to do any minor maintenance such as add a new logbook or zip lock bags to keep items dry, or please note maintenance required in your online log.

We do have a vacations rep in the Mayan that has offered to check on the cache if an emergency requires it, and we return as do our caching friends to the Mayan often, although it would be awesome to have an eye on the cache as many times as possible.

On your late evening moonlight stroll take a peak at the beach and enjoy the caribbean sea breeze. Between May and November you just might catch a marvel of nature like we did!

From May to October, giant 300 lb. sea turtles arrive along the white sand beach each year to lay their eggs. You may sit close to these wonderful creatures and watch as they lay their eggs and then watch in awe as they return to the sea. It is an experience of a lifetime! There are an amazing group of volunteers that keep a watchful eye on the turtles so feel free to take any or all of these great volunteers a snack from the buffet or bottle of water for their efforts, and like us, you may just get a front row seat to a 6' mama sea turtle adding to the circle of life!

Please, it's extremely important that you DO NOT take any flash photography of the turtles and vital that you DO NOT touch the turtles in any way as it may scare or hurt them. Thank you to GeoMeerKats for pointing out this omission in our original listing as we would hate to see any of these creatures suffer.
