The cache is placed above the city of Skala, on a road that
leads from Skala and up to "Old Skala". Continue a bit further
after having reached Old Skala - approx. 700 meter and you'll end
up close to the cache. The road is in good condition, asphalt
paved, but a bit narrow in places. The view on the sea and the
"new" Skala is magnificent.
We went there by scooters but also on foot. On foot it takes
about an hour to walk from Skala to the cache.
On the way up you pass the "Old Skala", where the town was
placed before
the earthquake in 1953. If you want to see pictures from Old
Skala then you may look here.
Note, that from Old Skala there is a brand new asphalt road
leading west to Allimatas, from where you can continue to the main
road at Ratzakli.
The cache is a small 0.5 liters box. A First Finder's
Certificate is waiting for the first to find the cache.
"Lunden" and "Fotografen" are danish geocachers. We are very
lucky to live in Denmark, where we have more than 6000 caches (July
2008) in a country with only 5 million inhabitants and an area
about 43.000 km2. This is approx. one cache per 6
km2! In the forests around the place where "Fotografen"
lives ( 55° 45.700N, 12° 24.300E ) it's actually getting
difficult to find new places for new caches! Look for yourself in
Google Earth.
A note on cache maintenance: We have
a local person who will help with cache maintenance.
