The West Woods of Ethie is one of Clovas favourite walks. It is also a favourite place of many of the children looked after by Mrs TC.
There are lots of trees to practice tree climbing skills, plenty of big sticks to carry about (still dont know whats so great about carrying sticks about but 3-5 yr olds seem to like it!)and plenty of fallen trunks to balance along. But the area that they always want to come back to time after time is the river. This one isn't a normal river with the water gurgling gently past but is made of crinkly beech leaves. The kids love running along the leaf filled ditch, kicking leaves everywhere, swimming in the leaves, totally covering each other and practicing their stunt falls into the soft bottomed ditch.
Its guaranteed that they go back to their Mums after a trip here mucky, tired and happy (just as kids are meant to be!)
The signal was pretty bad here but the cache can be found less than 5 metres from the "riverbank"
This is a popular dog walk so watch out for Muggles and Duggles.
