La città di Rovereto ospita sul Colle Miravalle la grande Campana dei Caduti, Maria Dolens, intuita e voluta dal sacerdote roveretano don Antonio Rossaro all’indomani della Grande Guerra come simbolo imperituro di condanna del conflitto, di pacificazione delle coscienze, di fratellanza fra gli uomini, di solidarietà fra i popoli. Realizzata col bronzo dei cannoni offerto dalle nazioni partecipanti al primo conflitto mondiale, suonò il primo rintocco il giorno 4 ottobre 1925, alla presenza del Re Vittorio Emanuele III ...

The biggest ringing bell in the world was the brainchild of the Roveretan Fr. Antonio Rossaro, to honour the Fallen of all wars and to invoke peace and brotherhood amongst all the peoples of the world. It was cast in Trento on the 30.th of October 1924 with bronze from cannons donated by the nations involved in the First World War. It was inaugurated on 24.th May 1925 under the name “Maria Dolens”...
