Caching The Falls At Clifty State Park

Inaugural Event

Event starts officially at 10am

Caches will be placed at overlooks at all of Clifty Falls State Park's beautiful waterfalls and one at a scenic overlook. There will also be a bonus cache for our hearty hikers! You will need to collect a unique stamp from each location to be qualified for the prize drawing.

Prize Drawing at 5pm

For all cachers with the collected stamps, a prize drawing will start at 5pm. This should give everyone enough time to visit all the cache sites even if they hike to each one. If planning to hike, estimate at least 4-5 hours to complete all the caches.

Facilities Available

We have Poplar Grove shelter house reserved for the event in the center of the park. (Event Coords)

 We will have a charcoal grill at the ready if you would like to grill something for lunch. So bring a picnic lunch with you. Bring your own utensils.

A water spout is on site and we will provide ice water available in jugs...bring a cup and keep cool...it is August in Indiana!

For the family member that doesn't want to Geocache, they can go swimming at our pool, visit The Clifty Inn, and the Interpretive Center.

**Be sure to wear proper footwear for the trails!! (Closed toe shoes or boots are best.)

 

Notes:

Clifty Falls State Park is located near Madison with entrances off state roads 56 and 62. The name Clifty Falls paints a beautiful picture in your mind. Winter and spring hiking shows the falls at their best while the rugged splendor of the creek and canyon offer exciting scenery year-round.

In historic Madison tour the Lanier State Historic Site, mansion of frontier banker James F.D. Lanier and enjoy the drive along the beautiful Ohio River. Plan a park visit during one of the community's special events such as the Madison Chautauqua Art Festival or Regatta hydroplane boat race.

 

Camping At Clifty Falls State Park

As of this post, there were many campsites still available and can be reserved through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Online Reservations system at:

Getting in the park

The usual State Park admission is required ($2.00 bicycle, $4.00 in-state weekday, $5.00 weekend, or $7.00 out of state vehicles). Whether you visit our great State Parks and Reservoirs for a day or an entire weekend, we hope you get out and see all that Indiana has to offer. Good Luck!!!
