Geocache Description:

Hot chocolate pot crashing where double yellow ends in black and white

We have Motorway Mayhem. We have A-Road Anarchy (cos there aren’t many Motorways in Wales!). But what about public transport users? SideTracked Caches are intended to provide quick Cache-and-dashes at Train Stations. It is hoped this idea will spread across the country in the same way as the MMs….but if hiding one PLEASE BE SENSIBLE and remember that in this day and age, public transport is under greater scrutiny than ever before, so, although these caches should be quick and easy grabs, PLEASE don’t place a Cache where it could cause alarm!!! Longbridge railway station serves the Longbridge area in the south-west of Birmingham. It is on the Cross City Line. The current station, on Tessall Lane, was built in 1978 at a cost of around £300,000. An earlier Longbridge station had existed nearby, on the Halesowen’s Railways branch to Old Hill. The station building can still be seen on the Bristol Road. The cache is named ‘The Austin’ for the simple reason that many workers would use this station to go to and from work at the car factory known as The Austin (and British Leyland in later years), which used to be across the road. If you were from the Birmingham area and you said you worked at the Austin, everyone knew exactly what you meant. Nowadays there is very little left of it. What is left is intended to once again build cars in the near future on a much smaller scale. The remaining ex-factory area is currently under a massive regeneration programme and it is hoped it will breathe new life into the region that was devastated by the closure of the Rover factory that the Austin eventually became. This cache is placed for pedestrians and car users alike. Parking is available within 10m of the cache but be early for these spaces! Otherwise park in Tessall Lane. Approach to the cache by car is a One Way road. Accesible 24/7. Stealth tactics apply at all times as this is a busy road during the day and there is a working mens club nearby. No CCTV cameras near the cache but you can be seen from the platforms. You may be watched!! You are looking for a magnetised small square container placed within easy reach on a graveled refuge. Please replace as you found it, as it is on a flat surface. This should be a true Cache and Dash unlike some other SideTracked caches I have come across that involve all sorts of gymnastics and rummaging!
