Congrats eyewise FTF!
This Spirit Quest cache is placed in honor of my grandparents and family members who are buried close by. Photos of sunsets from the cemetary are appreciated. Sunset is my favorite time to visit.
This cache is named so due to special memories I have of my favorite grandma and pap, Olen and Sadie Bennett. Grandma and Pap were the greatest! All of us grandkids and great grandkids wanted to be at their house as much as possible. When I would spend the night, I would ask where I was going to sleep and Grandma would always say, "I'm gonna hang you on a nail out on the porch." When I got older and started traveling to camps and internships she would ask the same question. I would excitedly tell her about my latest endeavor and she would ask, "What you want to do that for?" Every time she would ask this I would just chuckle to myself and come up with some lame answer.
Pap was a character! He was always making up songs, teaching us poems and doing little dances in the living room. One of my favorite memories of Pap was while we were flipping through channels on the TV. There wasn't much on except Mr. Rogers which I suggested. I don't think he really wanted to watch it but up he rose from the chair, singing and tap dancing: "Mr. Rogers, Mr. Rogers, I love you so well! Mr. Rogers, Mr. Rogers, it’s so hard to tell!"
Our family is filled with double-cousins as 3 of my grandma’s siblings married 3 of Pap’s siblings. My grandma’s sister, Jean, married one of Pap’s brothers and if you ever wanted to have a good time you ought to get the four of them together. One time while shopping with my Grandma Sadie and Aunt Jean, I expressed my irritation with my sister for telling on me. Aunt Jean, always clever says, “The next time she tells on you, you tell her: Tattle tale, Tattle tale, hanging on a bull’s tail. When the bull shall pee, you can have your tea!” I remember all of us laughing the rest of the way to the mall.
Its memories like those that make me smile and miss them all the same.
