A traditional cache hide, with a nice ammo can. The area can be
very wet so be prepared, tethered in place please return as
found.
Welcome to West Baton Rouge, in particular the site of the historic
Port Allen Ferry. From this little known River Walk you can get a
great view of the Capitol Building, the Mississippi River Bridge
and the USS Kidd. There is a free to use view Viewfinder as well!
-- This cache is part of the Mississippi River Parkway Commission’s
70th Anniversary Geocaching Event. You will need to make note of
the special code found on the front of the logbook.

Some history from Wikipedia: The Mississippi Riverfront
Development offers a panoramic view of the Mighty Mississippi and
Baton Rouge. The area includes a pedestrian promenade with special
architectural paving, viewing benches, and ornamental street
lighting. On this site a ferry operated between Port Allen and
Baton Rouge from 1820 to 1968.
Scott’s Cemetery is the burial place of African Americans in West
Baton Rouge's history and dates back to the 1850s. It is located at
the corner of Court and Commerce Streets near the Riverfront
Development.
About the Cache: Take a stroll down the Riverwalk and then
make your way down the levy to the cache. It is an ammo can full of
Louisiana swag held in place, so it does not float away in high
water, with a clip, please re-clip the cache if you need to detach
it. Depending on rain/river you may need boots or a boat. :D
