THIS IS THE FINAL CACHE OF THE "CREVICES NOOKS AND BROOKS" SERIES. THE COORDS LISTED WILL ONLY TAKE YOU TO THE PARKING AREA.
YOU MUST ASSEMBLE THE COORDS TO THIS CACHE BY VISITING ALL OF THE OTHER FOUR CACHES WITHING THE "CREVICES, NOOKS AND BROOKS" SERIES which runs along Timber Creek. You will visit: The Snake Pit, Arachnocache, The Happy Fly Catcher and the Crossing Guard. This series was designed to entertain and educate. It seems as geocachers we are always putting our hands in creepy places. We need to employ another kind of "geosense" as we enjoy this sport. Learning about who lives in the neighborhoods we are treading upon may be helpful for us and them!
The area you will be hiking through was once a town called Arwames. Arwames was occupied by the Lenape Tribe. Enjoy a 2.5 mile hike along the creek as you work on this series. WHILE SEARCHING, STAY ON THE TRAIL CLOSEST TO THE CREEK. PLEASE HELP US KEEP THIS BEAUTIFUL TRAIL CLEAN. CITO!
Big Timber Creek flows roughly to the northwest. Two streams, the North Branch and the South Branch, join 4.8 miles above its mouth to form the main stream. Both branches are dammed at several points to form impoundments. The North Branch of Big Timber Creek rises near Albion at an elevation of about 135 feet, about 2.5 miles from Pine Hill (the hill, not the town), the highest point in southern New Jersey at about 200 feet . It flows northwestward 10 miles through several impoundments to Chews Landing and thence to its confluence with the South Branch.
