Geocache Description:

An easy walk on a good hiking trail.

A plastic container with logbook and pen. When you find this cache, you'll be standing 100 paces north of the middle of the Union Ferry Branch of the Oregon Trail. Where the cache is located is in a minor trace of the trail. Looking west you'll see the depression made by countless wagons on the trail. The depression runs perpendicular to the slope of the hill, showing that it is not caused by erosion. At the driveway to the west, deeper ruts cut through an embankment. The ruts continue downhill to a pond. On the other side of the pond, the trail enters the wooded area and winds around a hill where you'll find a cache at Oregon Trail Two. The ruts are more pronounced as they continue west from the cache in the woods. The Kansas Wildlife and Parks will be placing historical markers this fall.
