Historically, Indian Ford Meadow served as a camping spot for Native Americans moving between the Deschutes River and the Cascade Mountains. The original path of the Old Santiam Wagon Road is believed to have run through this meadow.
Indian Ford Creek was known as the "Big Slough" to early homesteaders, reflecting the extremely wet meadow and marshes fed by the creek. The area was homesteaded and became part of the Willows Ranch, one of the earliest ranches in the area.
Please park and use the entrance at the given additional waypoint. This area is right off of Camp Polk Road. Please enjoy your stay, and keep to the paths provided.
