Geocache Description:

Half mile walk on a fairly level path to the Afon Ystrad.

Following on from Beth's Birthday Bonanza and Alex's 'Appy Anniversaire, Scout wanted a cache of her own to celebrate her 1st birthday on July 1st.

The cache is hidden nearby to the ruins of Dr Samuel Johnson's cottage, just outside Denbigh.
Dr Johnson (1709-1784) is among England's best-known literary figures. He was an essayist, poet, biographer and lexicographer and is one of the most quoted English writers after Shakespeare.
The ruined, hidden cottage is where Dr Johnson stayed when he visited the area.

The suggested parking for the cache is on the B4501 at N53 10.421 W003 26.029. The most direct footpath to the cachesite goes up a long drive and then through a garden and the owners are not too keen on walkers crossing their land. Therefore, we suggest walking back up the B-road for a short way and then taking the public footpath on the left at N53 10.526 W003 25.891 (a small car can actually be parked here as the road is wider). From here the cache is a 0.5m easy walk with a few gates/stiles to cross.

The path follows a green lane for a short way, passes behind a large house and then skirts a wood before reaching the river and the cache site.
To find Dr. Johnson's cottage, go past the footbridge without crossing it, and it is a short way along on the right.
