This person (who will be called X) was born in Surrey, the event being recorded on a plaque at the birth location.
A couple of years ago we found a second plaque concerning X, but this one was quite a long way from Surrey. This discovery was made while WW1 was working in the Netherlands (at Maastricht) and during school holidays the other Woking Wonders (WWs) would come out to stay. We explored much of the local area and on one visit came across a town where X had once stayed for five weeks. This stay was commemorated on that second plaque.
To solve this puzzle you will need to identify who X was and answer the following questions.
- How many letters are in the name of the town where the second plaque can be found (just to confuse things, there are several alternative names for this place - you need to use the more commonly used name). This is A.
- After school X started work for a company which still exists. B is the number of letters in the normal abbreviated name of this company.
- X had a nickname. C is the number of letters in this.
- X didn't live in Surrey for long. In fact much of X's life was spent outside the UK. In which year did X take up permanent residence outside the UK, for tax reasons (DEFG)?
