Geocache Description:

After successfully hiding several treasure caches from the ever prying eyes of the Royal Navy, the Two Geopirates and their crew set sail once again for the open sea, satisfied that they’d outsmarted their enemies. Little did these Two Geopirates know, they were carrying a Navy spy aboard their own ship. Disguised as an ordinary sailor, Red Robbie had been secretly sending information to the pirate hunters! The Two Geopirates were unwittingly sailing straight for battle with HMS Eagle.

As you steer your caching vessel towards the coordinates, you are, in fact, sailing to the very sight of this glorious battle. Set a course, just off shore of the pirate haven, Coopersville. There be three important locations you must visit in order to find the final treasure trove. You may disembark at the first stage and find the rest by foot, for it’s not a great distance to travel. But, cache hunters beware, many sailors died at this sight and their restless souls may appear in the night hours, so be sure to make the journey during daylight. Pirates make mighty mean ghosts so be sure to respect their final resting place.

At the first set of coordinates, you will find yourselves at the very spot where the Two Geopirates first spotted the Navy sloop. Topman Scowlin’ Marcus was aloft, and the first to sight the blighter. Sadly, this was the last fight for ol’ Marcus. No one aboard ever knew much about him, just that he had a sweetheart waiting for him named Ella. To find the second stage, locate Marcus and Ella’s graves.

The second stage brings you to the spot where HMS Eagle fired the first warning shot. Her Captain, Sir Archibald McKinnon, was a formidable adversary. He knew the capabilities of his crew and his ship, and “Iron Archie” had them both ready for battle the very second the pirates were sighted. Still, even the most skillful Navy man is no match for the wily Geo Pirates. Captain McKinnon’s first encounter with them was also his last. In order to make your way to the third stage, find the final resting place of Archibald McKinnon.

Stage Three be the glorious spot where the pirates sent HMS Eagle and her pirate hunting crew to Davy Jones Locker. With her Captain killed in the first broadside, Lieutenant Gerald Brookhouse made a valiant attempt at victory. The battle raged on most of an afternoon. As the sun began her descent to the horizon, Two Geopirates dealt the Navy a crushing blow. Their gunners managed to strike the mainmast, leaving the Navy ship unable to maneuver. HMS Eagle and her acting captain Brookhouse went down fighting. To find the last stage, go to the Navy man’s grave.

The final stage brings you to the very place where Red Robbie the turncoat was marooned as punishment for his crime. So, if you happen upon his traitor’s bones, ye be on the right track. Worried by the recent battle, the Two Geopirates also unloaded a chest teaming with treasure. Tis a large cache, with room for plenty o’ swag and traveling doubloons. To the first lucky geopirate to discover this treasure cache goes the spoils, a brand new pirate ship completely fit for battle with the scurvy pirate hunters of the King’s Navy!

Now, hoist the sails and man the capstan. And, as always, enjoy the hunt!
