We headed up to do a dive at Stoney Point this morning, but a
missing piece of equipment prevented diving! Luckily I had the
trusty Garmin with me, so we decided to do some caching instead.
I rembered being one of the last to find a cache that had been
archived here, so thought we should hide one on Stoney again since
it's such a nice place. This is my son's second cache
placement!
We scoured the vehicle for any thing we could make a cache out
of! We found an empty candy container that could be closed, some
paper from our print-out of the "Discover Duluth" cache from under
my seat, and a baggie out of the first aid kit to keep it
dry...success!
7/28/08 the original container has been changed due to
water issues, the new container should keep water out better, but
IMO would "stick out" more than the previous container if it is
seen by a non-cacher, so please hide this as good or better than
you found it.
9/31/2009 the cache has been relocated about 40 feet away
in an effort to provide a more "enduring" cache.
Have fun and enjoy the view! This is a cool spot to be at as the
sun goes down!
Just a note, Stoney Point does have some rather deep cuts in the
rock. Please watch your step and keep an eye on any younger kids
who may try to "jump across" like my son who hid this tried a few
years back! That 3 foot gap looks easy to jump across, but it's a
long way down...
