Leeds Country Way- "The Brownhills" Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been disabled for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.
Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."
If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Geocache Description:

Another odd one! This time a nano with room only for the log.

This is the third of our caches that employ unusual, custom made containers. I believe this is the hardest one yet in every way possible. Those of you to follow the thread to this point may have some advantage... maybe not!

If you haven't tried the others then they are "Triggy Tricks" (GC1DQ56) and "The Old Mill Wall" (GC1DG3Q). All are located near to roads on good paths and there's only about 2km between them. Unfortunately all are quite hard (Triggy Tricks is the easiest I believe) and may take some careful searching!

This cache is located in an area known locally as "The Brownhills" though this name appears on no map I've seen. It contains a section of the "Leeds Country Way" and lies between the villages of Drighlington and Gildersome on the outskirts of Leeds. I feel a few more caches on the L.C.W. may need to appear but perhaps more traditional than this one.

The location is accessible with a short walk from the village of Gildersome. It can be walked from Drighlington too but this is a little further. The paths are generally good and drain well unless you approach from the north (Cockersdale) direction. The shortest route is to walk up the Woodhead Lane bridle path from Street Lane, Gildersome. You can encounter mud but it is rare on this side.

This is a nano with no room for anything other than the log.

To make the find and log this cache you will need nothing more than sharp eyes, nimble fingers and your own pen. If you have trouble with those tiny rolled up paper logs then some tweezers may help but they shouldn't be essential. You will very definitely need NOTHING more even if you might at first think you do! a little imagination maybe required but that's always useful!
