Hazelhurst was once a booming town with a population of over 2000. They had three hotels and at least a dozen boarding houses, a movie theater and their own circus.
There were once four glass factories. Check out the website www.Smethporthistory.org. Hazelhurst now has an approximate population of 400.
The reason I named the cache is that numerous times I have driven past this location and cows and pigs who have escaped from a local farm have wandered across the road to the greener grass on the other side.
