Gauging Station - A Schuylkill 100 Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

This cache was hidden as part of the Schuylkill 100 event.

When you watch the news and hear of rivers overflowing their banks and being so many feet above flood stage, did you ever wonder how that information is determined? If you ever did, this is the place to find out.

This cache is hidden within sight of an official USGS Gauging Station for the Little Schuylkill River. It is a smaller, unmanned station that is operated remotely. All the data collected about the river here is transmitted to the USGS via a satellite link. The antenna is visible on the roof.

Some degree of stealth may be necessary as this stretch of the Little Schuylkill is very popular during trout season.
