Geocache Description:

Elevation of this cache is 2077' with a beautiful view of the Gastineau channel, downtown Juneau, and Douglas Island.

This cache is tucked behind a large rock and surrounded by alder bushes. It is not overly disguised and should be easy to find once you get to the general area. The purpose of this cache is the adventure getting to this beautiful spot in Juneau. It is located a little over 1/2 mile hike from the top of the Mount Roberts Tram. TWO OPTIONS TO REACH THE TOP OF THE MOUNT ROBERTS TRAM: 1) Ride the Mount Roberts Tram. It will cost $60.00 for an adult, $45.00 for youth 3-12, and 2 and under ride free (2025 prices). The tram is open April through October. 2) Hike the Mount Roberts Trail from the trailhead on Basin Road. The trail is very well established and is popular. Can be muddy. Steady switchbacks help with the elevation gain. Stay on the main trail to reduce erosion from short-cuts. Plan on 90 minutes to 2 hours to reach the cache. Be sure to return the cache to its resting place for the next hardy cacher to visit this beautiful area. The Stewards of Mount Roberts, developed the trail to Father Brown's cross into an evenly graded path that circles the ridge and provides grand vistas of Gold Creek and Nelson Watershed valleys. All the trail work near the alpine loop trail and cross include "hardened" surfaces that makes a stable surface. This solid surface encourages people to stay on the trail and lessens damage to surrounding vegetation. Weather can be a factor on this mountain. Please be cautious in the mountains.
