A pleasent walk through a Nature Reserve or over fell land, for our first cache set.
There are many places to park but we suggest parking at the co-ordiates below. You can also access the cache sight from the car parks on Waldridge Fell and enjoy a pleasent walk over the fell although there are a few small hills!
Durham County Council have restored this former Opencast into a nature reserve. The grassland has been sown with Wild Flowers, Heather and Juniper. Recent works with the Mineral Valleys Project have seen the creation of several ponds and native trees planted. If you are lucky you might see a Roe Deer on the southern part of the Reserve. There are Sheep and ponies in some of the near by fields so please keep dogs uder control, although there is plenty of open space on the Fell itself.
When we placed this cache it was muddy in places
I would like to thank Durham County Rangers for giving me permission to place this cache.
Please follow the country code!
