Geocache Description:

Hidden with permission. Please be respectful. A monument was built here to remember the original Ten Mile Lake Church. The church was burned down on Palm Sunday in 1986 by a drunk who also burned down another church that same night. As the fire fighters were putting out this fire, they saw another one in the distance burning. The monument was built the same height as the original church steeple and contains the original church bell. The original church, built in 1869, was home to one of the first congregations in Otter Tail County. The structure was a pioneer Norwegian Lutheran church, founded by settlers who felt the need to worship. Fifteen pastors served the church between 1869 and 1986. Instead of rebuilding, the congregation joined Our Saviors Church in Dalton. We have relatives that were baptized and married here and wanted to put a cache here to recognize the church.
