Slaithwaite (pronounced Slathwait or Slawit but never Slaythwait;)
is in the Colne Valley laying across the River Colne and the
Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
This is the 1st of a number of traditional geo-caches placed on the
route of the Colne Valley Mountain Bike Challenge.
The location has a stunning view of nearby Marsden which is the
location of the 2nd cache. “Old Mount Road”
The 30 mile route of the CVMBC is a mixture of demanding off road
terrain, local roads and lanes, set around the picturesque
countryside of the Colne Valley.
The course travels through the heart of the "Last of the Summer
Wine" and "Where the Heart Is" country. The event is open to anyone
aged 12 or over, however under 16's must be supervised at all times
by a responsible adult. Riders of all abilities are welcomed, but
are reminded that although this is primarily a fun event, the
course is challenging.
More information can be found at
www.cvmbc.co.uk
The CVMBC is a fundraising event in support of the 39th Parkwood
Scout Group and Leymoor Cricket Club, Golcar.
Note: You do not have to touch the dry stone
walls.
